Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small values that a website can ask your browser to store and send with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser feature that keeps information for a particular site on your device. Job Alerts World uses local storage for saved jobs and your analytics choice. Calling it local storage does not make it an advertising cookie or a server-side candidate account.
What is used today
- Saved jobs: the key jaw.saved.v1 stores identifiers of jobs you chose to bookmark. It lets this browser display your shortlist. It has no automatic expiry in our application and stays until you remove it or clear site data.
- Hosting and security: Cloudflare may use technical security cookies when necessary to deliver a challenge or prevent abuse. The particular cookies depend on the security features used and are controlled by Cloudflare.
- Analytics consent: jaw.analytics-consent.v1 stores Allow analytics or No thanks and a timestamp, for up to 180 days. You can change it through Analytics settings in the footer.
- Google Analytics: after consent, cookies such as _ga and _ga_ followed by a property identifier help measure visits. Our implementation configures a 180-day cookie lifetime with refresh disabled. They are not loaded before consent, and accessible analytics cookies are cleared when you withdraw.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: measures traffic and performance without analytics cookies or localStorage identifiers. Google AdSense and advertising cookies remain off.
Clearing or blocking storage
Remove individual bookmarks using their save buttons, or choose Clear saved jobs on the saved-jobs page. You can also delete this domain’s cookies and local storage through your browser’s site-data settings. Use Analytics settings in the footer to withdraw Google Analytics consent and clear accessible analytics cookies. Blocking storage may prevent a saved list or consent choice from surviving a page refresh; you can still read articles and use the ordinary category and page links.
If advertising is introduced
We will update this policy with the active providers and the choices available before introducing optional advertising technologies. Where consent is needed, those technologies will be controlled through an appropriate consent mechanism. A Google-certified consent management platform will be used before personalized Google advertisements are served to visitors in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland. This policy page is information about storage; it is not itself a consent-management tool.
External websites and questions
