Your first job application, without the scramble

Prepare a small, reusable application kit and adapt it to each employer’s requirements.

Build a master record

Keep a private, accurate record of your qualification, graduation dates, projects, internships and work history. Use it to check consistency across your résumé and application forms. This record is for your own use; share only what the specific application asks for.

Prepare an adaptable résumé

Maintain a readable résumé with contact details, education, relevant skills and evidence of your work. For an early-career technical role, explain a project’s problem, your contribution and a result you can discuss. For an operations role, highlight relevant tasks, tools and communication experience. Avoid adding a skill just because it appears in a job description.

Make a document checklist for each application

Employers differ in file types, size limits, photo dimensions and certificate requirements. Read the current notice instead of reusing another examination’s upload settings. Keep original files and make separate upload copies with clear names. Check the final preview after uploading.

  • A résumé in the employer’s requested format.
  • Qualification and experience information that matches your records.
  • Photograph or signature files only when the application requires them.
  • An application acknowledgment saved after submission.

Check the link before you share details

Start at the employer’s official careers page. If it sends you to an external hiring system, follow that route and check the position. Do not share an OTP or password with a recruiter or job discovery page. Stop and verify an offer that promises selection in return for an unofficial payment.

Track the next step

After applying, record the date and requisition number. Use a calendar for deadlines or assessments and keep a copy of the application. Check the official portal and legitimate employer messages for updates. Applying to a smaller set of suitable roles with accurate information is easier to track than losing sight of many unrecorded applications.
